Been a consumer of this essential forum for more than a decade (maybe even from when the forum itself started). Wrote my application after my first car this year, in my early 40s, got approved! You probably are re-reading the above sentence now, and trying to make sense of 'first car' and 'early 40s'. But you read it right. And yes, I'm trying to make sense of it too Have been a lifelong automotive enthusiast with inclination towards motorcycles in India and nice cars in open roads when travelling abroad. Finally, with Indian auto industry willing to bring in post-econo-box era cars with a fine balance of performance and comfort, decided to take the leap, and here I am. Took delivery of the 2024 Facelift Creta, SX(O) Turbo DCT early this month and have been enjoying it day-in day-out. My previous car was my parents' Esteem, 2004 LX (as spirited as they come, a.k.a no power steering, no power windows, no nothing). One of the reasons I stayed away from buying one myself this long is the fact that the joy of driving peaked in that car, though I have handled other modern cars from friends and family quite often but didn't come anywhere near the Esteem's driving experience. The differential increment in performance + comfort just didn't compute for me. Nothing like red-line manual shift to zoom around in a 65bhp (80hp) light-weight wearable I guess. A bit about myself, my day job is senior executive in cybersecurity SaaS product in a prestigious firm that is known for it. Outside of work, I spend almost all the time available learning an contemplating economics, finance and automotive engineering. Hoping to contribute to the forum now that I finally became part of it!! |

Welcome to the world of automotive ownership, there's definitely a "too early" but never too late! One humble request, please do everything in your power to not be the correctly stereotyped "Creta Driver" on the roads! Safe and happy driving! |

Wow, was it insightful! I promise to be a safe driver, who doesn't irritate others on the road with the dippers and honking. Coincidentally, I did face this just yesterday doing a half day long drive to break-in the engine. Come to think of it, a lot of the fast, rash drivers were indeed in Creta, Innova, Thar (didn't encounter a Fortuner). Left enough berth for them to pass along. |
